Station 19 partnered with Sanctuary Covenant Church in North Minneapolis to identify a building site and design a worship center that would both reflect and refresh the local community. Located in the heart of North Minneapolis, the church wanted its new building to honor local landscape and culture while shining as a center for hope and life for the surrounding community.
For their location, Station 19 and Sanctuary Church selected an underutilized site with condemned and empty buildings. One of the structures on the lot was a salvaged, heavy block warehouse building that became the spacious, bright lobby for their new worship center. The exposed ceilings and beams reference the area’s industrial roots.
The new church building serves as a transition between a residential neighborhood and West Broadway’s commercial corridor and captures Sanctuary Covenant’s heart for North Minneapolis.
