LeSueur United Methodist Church was ready for an update for their worship and lobby spaces that had been waiting for a refresh since the building was built in 1958. The mid-century modern architecture and design left Station 19 Architects with a vision for a more modern update of the spaces that allowed for LeSueur UMC’s people to gather, fellowship, and linger in community.
Removing a wall in the lobby that housed a small library area expanded this gathering space to accommodate a new café. Removing the wall also allowed more natural light to enter the lobby, helping it seem larger and more inviting. The rear wall in the sanctuary was full of glass providing a connection between the activities of the church and the surrounding neighborhood. The sanctuary was updated with new finishes and design that complimented the original architecture and finishes by replacing pews with rowed chairs, and a new, full-accessible pulpit area.
LeSueur UMC is now able to invite the community through their doors and provide a comfortable, updated space for them to gather and create meaningful connections.
