Grace Lutheran Church
Brooklyn Park, MN
Remodel
Size: 5,350 square foot
Completed: October 2018
The large volume space, high ceilings, and concrete block walls of the gymnasium they had been worshipping in for years did not reflect Grace Lutheran Church’s heart for Worship. Building on our past partnership from a 2003 restroom and office remodel, Station 19 came alongside Grace Lutheran to transition them to a dedicated, fresh, bright, Sacred Worship space.
We added wood columns and beams along a sloped ceiling to create cohesion with the new pews and furniture for the now-accessible chancel. We covered the concrete block walls with drywall to modernize and improve the overall aesthetics. We also centered the doors of the Sanctuary to the Cross, creating clear lines of sight from both the chancel and the narthex.
Opening up the entire back wall with glass improved the church’s welcome area and made both the narthex and sanctuary spaces feel more connected. New carpet was brought from the Sanctuary into the welcome area, with a newly widened access hallway to the children’s nursery.
Grace Lutheran Church now has a modern, sacred space that welcomes all to worship each Sunday morning.
