Covenant Pines Bible Camp - Worship Center
McGregor, MN
New Facility
Size: 13,200 square foot
Completed: March 2024
Several generations of campers experienced a beloved, rustic 1957 A-Frame chapel, but after decades of service the chapel could no longer support the ministry needs of a growing camp. Covenant Pines needed a significantly larger space that could be used through all seasons and weather conditions, support multiple ministry types, and included access to restrooms yet maintained the experience that campers and staff loved.
By locating the new building at the heart of camp, several programming funtionalities were combined to create a ministry hub where campers and retreat goers could check-in, gather, and worship together. The building was situated so active spaces faced the central camp while reflective spaces include views of trees and landscape. Taking cues from the chapel and other camp buildings, stone and wood accents ground the larger building within the natural surroundings. The darker tones of the siding help the building meld into the tree-filled landscape. A shelled mezzanine level gives the camp room to expand.
While more modern and with greater capacity, the Covenant Pines experience of lively worship remained the same, allowing more students to experience the Spirit moving and take the next steps of their faith journey.
