Calvary Lutheran Church
Golden Valley, MN
Interior Remodel
Size: 1,800 square foot
Completed: November 2019
Calvary Lutheran Church found a growing interest in their traditional service and decided to update their original sanctuary and adjoining lobby/meeting space into a classic Chapel and gathering area to accommodate. Antiquated layouts and audio-visual equipment, outdated finishes and lack of handicap accessibility led Calvary Lutheran to a ministry partnership with Station 19.
Station 19 took the time to listen to Calvary Lutheran’s needs and collaborated with them to create a strategic ministry plan for their Chapel Suite that would allow them to build in phases as they were able.
Phase 1 allowed for a new, larger platform design and a re-imagined seating layout that included a handicap ramp, removable communion rails, organ speaking enclosure which was built to enhance their historic stain glass window and portable chair risers. The lighting was also updated with LED pendant lights and indirect lighting to enhance their dark wood ceilings and spot lighting for the platform.
As a result, Calvary Lutheran has seen a resurgence of multi-generational attendance at their traditional service in their new chapel. They are now well-positioned to continue to implement more portions of their strategic ministry plan for their Chapel Suite as resources become available.
